Women who complete long-term recovery programs have accomplished something extraordinary—but recovery is only the beginning. Although they have made tremendous progress, many still face significant barriers to independent living, including limited savings, little rental history, few furnishings, and a lack of ongoing support.
Without stable housing and continued support, many women remain vulnerable to homelessness, unsafe relationships, and re-exploitation. The Dogwood House bridges the critical gap between long-term recovery and independent living by providing the time, stability, community, and practical support that women need to move forward with confidence.

Our three-fold approach to helping women thrive

Private apartments that promote dignity, privacy, and independent living within a supportive community.

A Christ-centered community where women are encouraged to pursue restoration through faith, authentic relationships, and compassionate support.
Independent Living
Residents live in private apartments that promote dignity, privacy, and independent living within a supportive community. They manage their own schedules, meals, transportation, employment, and daily routines while building the confidence and stability needed for long-term independence.
Optional community dinners, educational workshops, and faith-based gatherings provide opportunities for connection while respecting each resident’s independence and personal journey. Apartment layouts may include studio, one-bedroom, and family units when appropriate to support reunification.
Without stable housing, national estimates suggest that up to 80% of trafficking survivors are at risk of re-exploitation.
Practical Support
Building a stable future requires more than housing. Every resident meets regularly with a financial advisor to establish goals for budgeting, debt management, credit building, savings, and long-term housing readiness.
Residents are also connected to trusted community partners for trauma-informed therapy, healthcare, education, employment, and legal services. Monthly life-skills workshops provide practical instruction in areas such as financial literacy, cooking, nutrition, home maintenance, healthy relationships, parenting, and other everyday skills that support long-term independence. Mentors, volunteers, and community partners reinforce healthy relationships, accountability, and encouragement throughout each resident’s journey.

The Dogwood House is a faith-based community rooted in the belief that lasting restoration is found through Christ. We cultivate a culture of dignity, hospitality, grace, and hope where women are encouraged to continue their spiritual journey within a supportive faith community.
Church involvement and faith-centered opportunities are strongly encouraged but never required. Our desire is to create a home where every resident experiences authentic relationships, compassionate support, and the freedom to pursue restoration through Christ at her own pace
